Today I finally switched the first of my weblogs from the super-old MovableType 2.65 to Drupal … I upgraded the last MT installation back in 2003 I think :-)
the main reason?
MT blacklist – the spam plugin I used simply didn’t work with the new 64bit server I am using… and before I would upgrade to MT3 I thought I need to consolidate everything in Drupal…
other reasons? yes…
and….
it took me some time to choose Drupal over Wordpress, as it is much more complex, yet even more flexible… and actually I reviewed both applications for 1 year now… Drupal rocks – at least for all the things I have on my mind it will be the right application…
The old layout went as I didn’t migrate that… not sure if I will stick with the current one tough, but it should be sufficient for some weeks :-)
Please let me know about all current site problems you may encounter – I’m already blind from all the testing.
Thanks, Christoph

Oh – I want to encourage you to register for comments here,
as this will allow you to get rid of the various spam protections I have in here… the most convenient way for commenting…
thanks christoph

anonymous comments and follow-up notifications
Hi Brian,
thanks for the feedback - I just wanted to let you know that by today I implemented the simple follow-up notification mail module!
Can you believe it? a powerful and flexible system like drupal, but nobody did it before
see
http://weblog.cemper.com/a/200608/22-module-for-comment-notification-for-anonymous-users.php
and
http://drupal.org/node/79980
for more...
BTW: signature lines from your profile should work fine now,
as well as on-site private messages you can send around....
Thanks for all your feedback
cheers,
Christoph C. Cemper

Christoph,Your welcome,
Christoph,
Your welcome, Drupal is something that I have wanted to look into for some time now. I think the comminity aspect of the software is awesome, I have one health related site (alopecia hair loss) and could see that it could really build up the content and keep people coming back. Any chance of getting user signatures automatically added to their own personal posts?
I created a "congrats on drupal" post to check out just how drupal works and what not. Noticed my signature did not appear after my post.
Any good drupal resource you would recommend?
Cheers,
Brian
