Authority Backlink check bookmarklet

Whenever I check out a site, I have a deep interest in the number and type of backlinks the site has.

This is best done with the Yahoo backlink tool – altough they have they Yahoo Backlink API ready, this is the most convenient way…

I thought today I'd share my favorite bookmarklet for

Checking .EDU .AC.UK .GOV and .MIL backlinks fast bookmarklet

Authority Backlinks

Just drag this link to your "linkbar" or "personal bar" in your brower (tested in Opera, but you can use that code in any browser)

Open issue with this: you HAVE to be placed on the root domain of the site, as this just takes the current URL and removes the http – it does not parse out the sub pages, and the yahoo linkdomain command doesn't work with sub pages specified…

so e.g.

place yourself on www.marketingfan.com

before clicking the bookmarklet instead of

You know you can make that sort of bookmarklet work from any page on a site… I think there is a javascript thing like URL host or something like that…so you can see the root linkdomain of a site even if you are on a subpage of it
