CIA.GOV Banned From Google
July 27th, 2006 — | What say you?Google has banned the domain “cia.gov” according to some typical metrics used for checking a “ban”
- Pagerank for the homepage and ALL other pages went to grey/white – depending on which toolbar version/query version you use
- the query www.cia.gov returns no results
However the common site: command still does so I’d rather call this a major glitch in google’s database…
However, it’s authority status has not changed
PR: 8
Age: 12-1998
Links: 1,010,000
.edu Links: 64,400
.edu Page Links: 3,120
.gov Links: 50,300
But hey – still a PR8 on all datacenters when queried in “underground” tools like
LivePR yet the google toolbar as well as the toolbar in Firefox fail to dispay PR …hmmm… this is a hot day, eh ?
No – not at all… all that the CIA did was redirect their homepage from http://www.cia.gov to https://www.cia.gov – and all tools that don’t query the PR via http:// url return blank data… including Google’s own toolbar
and also the query to google translates to a “http://www.cia.gov”
query instead of a https://www.cia.gov query required that returns the commonly known results
I think this problem is solved – and I would still take a link from cia.gov … hello – anyone?
