How to get a free link
July 8th, 2006 — | 25 Comments »How to get a free link on marketingfan.com
really simple…
1. Signup as a user on MarketingFan.com
* add your business information
* upload an avatar or picture of yourself
2. Then introduce yourself by commenting this thread.
tell us about yourself, and YES, you can link to your company as well…
3. Add an additional link to your homepage in your users-profile
hey, WOW! - so that’s actually TWO free links
one in the comment here, one in the user profile.
And now your link is also listed in the user profile list of professional-pm which shares the user base - so you don’t have to re-register there!
You can checkout my profile and the one of Blog Marketing Guy as a sample.
So let’s go ahead, Who are you and what do you do? ![]()

Hi,
I am Christoph C. Cemper, living in Vienna, Austria.
Coming from software development side, been a project manager and also studying marketing (almost done) … so I have quite a bit of different intersting experiences in my life. Now I am doing internet marketing with special focus on link building and affiliate marketing… for my master’s thesis I recently dived into researching communities and motivation of online community members.
I am also founder and CEO of my (still) one-man-company CEMPER.COM which is runing a couple of different sites and servicing quite some clients already.

I have a new website. all the “experts” write articles saying that link building is one of the keys to increasing traffic and pagerank. So far no problem. Then I am given just enough info to discourage me and get me to sign up for their service. How can i find free links? How can I determine if the price of a link is worth paying??
My site is http://www.christianministryofficeproducts.com/.
We sell office machines and the supplies to run them, and give half of the profits to those in need. Can anyone suggest places to start building high quality links?
Thanks

Hi,
I’m sure you refer to “link exchange” places?
Naah, there’s not a single place you can build high quality links…
Did you read this post?
http://www.marketingfan.com/a/search-engines/seo/link-building/high-quality-link-building.php
When it comes to “high quality” the two most important aspects are trust of the site linking to you aswell as topical relevance… don’t get fooled by people just selling you page rank as it happened in 2003-2005
The state of the art method of getting trusted and high quality links are presell pages.
cheers,

Hi
I am Martin Melisek, currently working at QualityUnit.com. I think it is nice to give us free links here, but I also think it would me much much nicer to remove rel=”nofollow” attribute from those links
..will you?

Martin,
thanks for valued contribution to my blog.
However I think that TWO free links are enough give away.
Therer is no reason to get greedy and stuff more links into a post( like those in your footer ) or to expect that every posted link you place get’s followed.
There are just too many blog spammers out there.
Your followed link is in your profile of this site and http://www.professional-pm.com and by your own contributions to both sites you can increase the overall linkage to that profile, thereby power your link out there.

Glad I happened across Marketingfan.com today! I run a small blog out of Indianapolis called the Marketing Technology Blog, concentrating on leveraging technology and automating marketing efforts. As well, you’ll find some nice WordPress plugins and other projects I’ve worked on in my projects page.
Cheers,
